Thank you to everyone who participated in the Expo! The everything Quilting & Sewing Expo returned to St. Charles MO for the third year, September 21-23, 2007. This annual event was held at the new Saint Charles Convention Center. This year’s event featured special presentations by Mark Lipinski, editor in chief of Quilter’s Home Magazine and Kaye Wood, TV celebrity of Kaye’s Quilting Friends. They joined a host of other nationally recognized teachers such as Bobbie Bergquist, Sadia Andrews, Luveta Nickels, Patsy Shields, Pam Damour, Hallye Bone, Cindy Shaper, Barbara Crawford, Veronica Cox, Shirley Biehl, Londa Rohlfing, Cheryl Ann, Patricia Simmons, Mary Pierson, Ann Hazelwood, James Raymer, Mary Spanger, Anne Evans and more. In addition to the vendor shopping mall, and classes and workshops, there were some very special displays. Mark Lipinski had his unusual and quirky polyester quilts exhibit and a display of vintage aprons that were featured in Quilter’s Home Magazine. The aprons were auctioned by silent auction with the proceeds going to charity. He was on hand to personally autograph the aprons and the Quilter’s Home Magazine in which the aprons were featured. Monica Cowing's quilt gallery called "Becoming Aware; A Life Changing Experience" had meaning to almost everyone who viewed it. She transforms her personal and family experiences into a visual experience. Last year over 200 quilts were on display at the Expo from all over the U.S. This year quilts were displayed from Kaye Wood as well as other teachers, international quilters and the local guilds making it one of the largest in the area. Ann Hazelwood took attendees through a glimpse of history with her Bed Turning prowess. Ann is a quilt appraiser and the owner of Patches Etc. in St. Charles MO. While turning quilts she entertained attendees with bits of quilt trivia and history.
