Barbara Crawford – Crawford Designs
Barbara Crawford is not only the owner of Crawford Designs, an established pattern company that specializes in appliqué designs and country collectable dolls, but she is now leading the way in the needle felting craze! Crawford Designs has just introduced the first two books written in the United States on needle felting wearables, fashion accessories and dimensionals. The books include many needle felting designs, and instructional introduction to needle felting, techniques, ideas, color charts and also patterns. Barbara travels the country as a teacher and a vendor in many of the more popular sewing and quilting expos. She is a guest speaker at many quilt guilds throughout the country. With a degree in art she has developed her techniques and unique designs. She has been designing since 1991 starting out as a subcontractor until she branched out on her own in 1995, establishing her pattern line for country collectable dolls and Santas. In 2001, she introduced her first appliqué patterns. Most recently she was introduced to needle felting and has fallen in love with the craft. She has many of her won needle felting designs and now travels to teach classes on the subject. Barbara has written articles for both SQE Professional and Sew News magazines which include models and projects.

This seminar includes creating jackets and long duster coats using sweatshirts and woolfelts. Also included in this class are clever ways to use your leftovers, from woolfelts and wool, to those jean legs leftover after the pockets were used. Barbara will also share her unique ways to close your cardigans, and duster/coats instead of just the traditional buttons and zippers. When one color becomes two! The introduction to woolfelts and how they are incorporated in her designs, it is a full hour packed with loads of information and fun!

Introduction to Needle Felting

Have you heard of needle felting? It’s new! It’s easy! And it’s fun! This is a seminar that is also hands on. You will get the opportunity to needle felt in this class, so that you can see that it is simple and fun and so that you can handle these needles and roving wool and that way you will learn how quickly you can adapt yourself to this technique. Needle felting is done with a barbed needle and roving. We use the shaded wisps and wool roving the colors is fantastic. Don’t miss this opportunity to work, learn, and play. It is a simple technique with beautiful results.
