The Basics of Machine Applique
Hands-on Workshop, 4 Hours, Friday 10:00am - 2:00pm. Limit 20 students.
Instructor: Kathy Kansier
During class, you will learn how to create an appliqué block. The pattern is from Kathy’s appliqué book called Ozark Varieties. The block name is called Triple Tulip. Kathy will show how to make smooth curves, sharp points, perfect circles, leaves and stems. The pattern pieces will be basted with glue to the background fabric. The edges will be finished with a variety of machine appliqué stitches. This block may become a wall hanging, pillow or the beginning of a new appliqué quilt.
Supply List: Basic sewing supplies including a small sharp-pointed scissor for cutting paper, a small sharp-pointed scissor for cutting fabric, a mechanical pencil and eraser, Clover silk pins with glass heads and a seam ripper.
Kit fee $40 which includes freezer paper, fusible inner facing, Roxanne’s Glu-Baste-It, a glue stick, the fabrics and thread to complete one block. The kit also includes Kathy’s appliqué book called Ozark Varieties. This book has the patterns for nine blocks, a scalloped border and instructions for both hand and machine appliqué. The colors and fabrics may vary in the kits. The kit fee will be paid directly to the instructor during the workshop.

Sew Simple Pineapple Tablerunner
Hands-on Workshop, 3 Hours, Friday 9:00am - 12:00pm.. Limit 20 students.

You will be amazed at how easy this pineapple block is. You have no wasted fabric and you don't have to cut little strips. It is done with squares of fabric and you will truly be amazed at how fast and easy this technique is.

Small Diamonds On Point
Hands-on Workshop, 3 Hours, Friday 9:00am - 12:00pm. Limit 20 students.
Instructor: Veronica Cox, Bear Thread Designs
This is a small scrappy strip quilt. You'll learn how to turn squares on point and how to border with half square and quarter square triangles. Learn how to "fix" bias stretching. This is a great quilt to use up your scraps with. You'll make this one over and over again.
Supply List: Please bring a small rotary cutter, mat and ruler if you have them. No bigger than a 12" cutting mat and ruler for this class only.

Putting Your Stamp On It – Imagery on Fabric with ORIGINAL Hand-made Stamps
Hands-on Workshop, 6 Hours, Friday 9:00am - 3:00pm

Always have just the right fabric for your next project by printing your own original look. We’ll explore six different methods for translating your personal design to a stamp. Combine methods for unique looks. Pigments vs. thickened dyes, appropriateness of design for specific techniques will be discussed. This is a FUN hands-on class of exploration using techniques that just might surprise you.

Creating the Perfect BAG!

Everything that can be made into a garment, pillow, wall hanging or quilt, can also be made into a handbag. Handbags are the rage and you need more than one. Discover how easy it is to make bags with character to fit your special needs. Whether making a cute evening bag, holder for CD’s, or large carryall for everyday, there are tricks of the trade. Padded shoulder straps, chain application, corded piping, sew-in magnetic snaps, bag feet, and under construction essentials are some of the basics. There are tips for proper positioning of creative design for all styles of bags. Use handbags as a palette to play with your sewing machine while creating bags uniquely your own. They are so much fun. View many bags from Linda’s collection.

One Stick Wonder
Hands-on, 1 hour, Friday 9:00am - 10:00am
Instructor: Diana Taylor, Stick Ball
Diana Taylor, the inventor of Ficklesticks and the author of Fast, Fun and Easy Fabric Ficklesticks by C&T Publishing,will show you how to make those zany, bendable patchwork and wire sticks! By finishing up one conveniently pre-stitched and pre-turned 36" Ficklestick, the students will learn how to manipulate it into several variations on a bangle bracelet, or one of three kinds of pendants: a daisy, a squiggle or a heart. Students will have a wide assortment of patchwork fabric tubes to choose from, and later will select a neck cord that best suits their creation! Each will take home a finished necklace or bracelet. Needlenose pliers and other tools will be provided for use during the class.

Iron-on Rhinestone Embellishments

Add a little sparkle to you life. Learn how easy it is to apply iron-on embellishments to quilts, t-shirts, and fabrics. This is a fun and "hands-on" lecture with tips and techniques for a variety of material types. Samples will be provided.

Vintage Quilt Block Tote
2 Hour Hands-on Workshop, Friday 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. – Limit 20 students

This tote is simple, yet eye-catching, and best of all easy to make! You will choose a complete kit with an original vintage quilt block, matching vintage fabric, vintage buttons and trims, & interfacing. We will create your tote using machine stitches, including embroidery stitches for appliqué and embellishment. Your tote will be made from a totally unique vintage quilt block and fabric. Rita makes this class easy by giving each student individual attention. Rita loves to teach, and you will love this fun class!
Supplies needed: Scissors, pins, a few basic thread colors.

Formal Feathers – Basics and Beyond
Hands-on Design Drawing Workshop, 3 Hours, Friday 1:30pm - 4:30pm

If you have never tried them, it is about time! You will never regret it, once you understand the concept. The rest is just putting a little effort into trying to get them looking exactly the way you like them. The flexibility in creating quilting designs using these feathers cannot be underestimated. Starting with the basics followed by little more advanced designs, you will realize that you can do anything you wish using these feathers on customers or your own quilts once you know how. You will learn how to create those charming, unique plumes of feathers and feather swags, how to fill any shape and form with these charming feathers. Irena will show you how to make them look like they are about to leap off your quilt. They might become your forte with some practice and confidence as time goes by.

Building Kaleidoscopes for Printable Fabric

As a child, it was fun to play with kaleidoscopes and watch the different designs evolve. A twist of the wrist and the design was gone forever! Today, it is easy to create kaleidoscopes with your own photography. By using different template shapes, you’ll marvel at the works of art that can be created to print on fabric or paper. Use the kaleidoscope as a base for further thread embellishment, build a project with the kaleidoscope as a focal point, or piece it into a block for a quilted project. Learn what to look for in pictures and how to take different pictures for kaleidoscopes, and determine the best fabric and printer for the project. This could be another creative addiction.
