The LoveQuilt™ Connection celebrates 15 years!
Official chapters of LoveQuilt™ Connection to form soon
Industry icon and quilting friend Kaye Wood is pleased to announce that the LoveQuilt™ Connection is celebrating 15 years of existence this year.
Kaye created the LoveQuilt™ Connection and started LoveQuilt™ Connection events to encourage people to make 6-Hour Quilts, which are donated to individuals in need through charitable organizations. The events were also designed to teach as many people as possible the technique, so they in turn, can take the idea back to their own area and share it with others.
Over 2,500 6-Hour Quilts have been made and donated since the LoveQuilt™ Connection began 15 years ago. Quilters have successfully joined together to make these quilts for those who need a little extra love. Kaye, who is the founder, is pleased that many quilters have taken her 6-Hour Quilt method back to their communities.
One of these quilters, Mary E. Kaeser, has been named the National LoveQuilt™ Connection Coordinator. Kaye chose Mary because of the success she had in using the 6-Hour Quilt method in her own community by creating the Community Quilt Connection, Inc. (non-profit) located in Cincinnati, OH.
As well as using the method in the community, Mary has also successfully had the 6-Hour Quilt included in the curriculum in several local schools and has offered it to several youth groups, such as Girl Scouts, for community service projects. Mary, with Kaye’s guidance, will present events nationally and in various communities. Their goal is to compile a list of people and groups using the 6-Hour Quilt method for their charities. In the future, official chapters will be formed so the program can grow and quilts can be made for even more of the world’s children who are in need. Mary will be available to share her experiences in the communities and in the schools.
If you offer any 6-Hour Quilt projects or events, please e-mail Mary at cquiltcinc05@aol.com and tell her about your experiences. Please use the subject heading “GROUP.” If you wish to be on the list to receive future information about the LoveQuilt™ Connection or if you would like your group to be a possible “Chapter,” then e-mail cquiltcinc05@aol.com using the subject heading “INFORMATION OR CHAPTER.”
